Description
A white bunny rabbit painting on a bright red background, is a colorful addition for the kitchen, cafe, nursery or bunny lover. My animal paintings start with an image, they are then molded and sculpted with a palette knife until they raise off the board and come to life!
This rabbit is a French Lop Eared Rabbit. The French Lop is a popular breed of rabbit which was developed in France in the 19th century out of breeding between the English Lop and the Flemish Giant. The French Lop has a heavier stature and shorter ears than the English variety.
There are also Dwarf lops and Mini lops in Australia which have been bred from rabbits which originated in America and England. They have been bred from the Lop which is one of the oldest rabbit varieties. The term Lop comes from the characteristic ears of this rabbit which are very long and wide and hang either side of the head. The Dwarf lop was the first of the two varieties to be bred. This was achieved by introducing the dwarf gene to the French Lop rabbit. The Dwarf lops were then further dwarfed to produce the Mini lop.
I have many similar animal and Easter Bunny paintings to browse. Just click on my name (above left) and go to my Animal Paintings Gallery.
