This pretty purple house is on the island of Burano which is a 30 minute boat ride from Venice, Italy. Burano is a beautiful tourist destination and famous for it's brightly colorful houses, it's lace making and Murano glass.
The houses were originally colored so that you could see where one house started and another began and also so that they could be seen from fishing boats. Many of the houses on the island of Burano have colorful washing hanging on the line and pot plants scattered around the cobbled stone pavements, making a very attractive scene.
