Description
An impressionist painting of an emu, painted with a palette knife for a feathery texture. A fun quirky animal for a boy's room, nursery, kid's room or kitchen decor.
The emu is native to Australia where it is the largest bird and second largest bird by height in the world, after the ostrich. Emus are flightless birds with long necks and legs reaching up to around 6 feet in height. They can travel long distances at a speed of about 31 mph in search of food. Emus eat a variety of plants and insects, but can go weeks without food, taking in large amounts of water when they find it. Emus can reach full size in 6 months, but sometimes remain with their family until the next breeding season. They may live 10 or 20 years if not attacked by dingoes, eagles and hawks. The emu is an icon of Australia, appearing on the coat of arms and various coins.
