Description
An impressionist oil painting of the view from Mt Tamborine. Mt Tamborine is in the hinterland one hour from the Gold Coast in south Queensland.
The name Tamborine does not come from the musical instrument, but is an aboriginal word Tam, meaning yam or wild potato. The Wangerriburra people used to dig wild yam which grew at the foot of the mountain. Tamborine Mountain has a rainforest which is in the 3rd oldest National Park in the world. It has the remains of Mount Warning volcano. Tamborine Mountain is a beautiful tourist destination with walking tracks and lookouts, a Glow Worm Cave, vineyards and wineries and shops to explore.
